The holidays are a busy time! During this hectic season of shopping, cooking, and drinking, it’s wise to take a few precautionary steps to make sure you and your family are safe. With a little caution and planning, you’ll be sure to have a very merry holiday season!

Candle Safety

Candles are everywhere during the holiday season. They burn beautifully and make our homes feel cozy and warm during the winter. Whether it’s a menorah, a candelabra, or a single tea light, there are steps you can take to make sure that the candles are the only things burning. First and foremost, never leave a candle unattended! If your family is all going to be out of the house all day, it’s a good idea to snuff your candles, lest you come home to a burning house. If you have small children or pets, make sure that your candles are placed in areas where they can’t be reached. This is pretty easy with children and dogs, but if you have a cat that enjoys knocking things off tables, then maybe skip the candles this holiday season. (more…)

That’s right, trees can be dangerous. Especially with winter almost here, you want to make sure that you don’t have any damaged trees near your car or home. During the winter, heavy snowfall can burden weak tree branches enough that they will break and damage whatever is underneath.
